The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.
Context
WFP’s role in Ghana is predominantly that of an enabler supporting efforts to achieve Zero Hunger, consistent with the vision of self-reliance of the Government of Ghana, while maintaining a minor humanitarian footprint to 1) assist the government’s emergency response activities and 2) pilot development initiatives where learnings assist in strengthening policy formulation and social cohesion. Specifically, activities have been designed to enhance food systems e-commerce ecosystem and value chains, strengthen the social protection graduation programme into livelihoods and support a transformative Social and Behaviour Change Communication strategy to improve nutrition practices and promote healthy diets throughout the life-cycle. Furthermore, building on strengths in disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness and response, WFP is contributing to enhancing national systems to ensure shock-responsive social protection programmes that respond to the needs of vulnerable populations.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of Finance Officer, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: 1. Contribute to the preparation of budget plans, monitor, and analyse project financial performance and make recommendations on best practices to support financial analysis and optimisation of resources. 2. Provide comprehensive analysis on fund and grant balances identifying surpluses and deficits, and suggest corrective measures, to support maximum fund utilization and decision-making process. 3. Support pipeline management ensuring efficient monitoring, to prevent and address pipe-line breaks and maximise operational effectiveness. 4. Contribute to the improvement of internal processes, enhancement of corporate systems and design of tools, to facilitate the overall planning, expenditure forecasting, and budget management and monitoring of resource utilisation. 5. Enter project budget plans and revisions in the corporate systems, to ensure data is timely and accurately captured enabling easy access to information and supporting planning and decision making. 6. Support the secretariat to the Resources Management Committee to review, compile and analyse data, maintain accurate records and files and prepare periodic and ad hoc reports, to support accuracy and efficiency of information presented to internal and external stakeholders. 7. Maintain communication with several stakeholders regarding project funds management matters and related processes, to clarify any discrepancies and optimise use of funds.

APPLICATION – If you are currently enrolled in a university and have not yet obtained a university degree, indicate in the section ‘Academic qualifications’ under ‘diploma/degree obtained’ that you are still studying and towards which degree. In the ‘to’ field, enter the current date, as the system does not allow you to enter a future date. Instead of the degree certificate, upload any evidence of your enrollment, for example a transcript. – You may apply to a maximum of three assignments and indicate the order of preference in the ‘Additional remarks’ field when filling in the application form. – If you are above the age of 26, a notification will be displayed that you are not eligible to apply. - Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded;

The World Food Programme Country Office in Ghana is located at Cantonment, Accra – in the national capital of Ghana. Address: No. 7, 7th Rangoon Close, Cantonment, Accra P. O. Box 1423 Accra – Ghana The office is located close to offices of national security agencies and close to many residen-tial apartments as well as business centre (5–15-minute drive) and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. There are various types of housing close to the office including serviced apartments, self-compound etc. (studio/one/two/three bedrooms).
