Job Title: Civil Engineer (International Consultant)
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Contract
Project Duration: The project implementation period is 1 month with weekly reporting to Our Client
Job Summary
- Our client is currently handling a project on the rehabilitation of a huge office in Lagos, hence seeking a skilled and qualified International Consultant who will be responsible for reviewing the Bill of Quantity (BOQ) and drafting the ESMP, as well as providing support at the evaluation stage.
- S/He will also be responsible for the daily running of people operation alongside the other team members on the site.
Objectives
- To provide technical and civil engineering supervision of civil works projects and contractors to achieve smooth project execution and delivery of basic infrastructure projects
- To ensure quality, and timely project delivery according to contract specifications, schedule, and budget.
- To monitor construction progress detailing inputs for weekly and milestone progress reports. Our Client will review all reports to ensure that the service provider complies with timely and adequate reporting
Responsibilities
- Ensuring full compliance with contract Scope of work, project schedule, design drawing details, quality specifications and civil engineer’s instructions.
- Document all activities on the site by Taking clear progressive photographs of all critical activities and archiving for reporting purposes
- Confirmation of quality and strength of sandcrete blockwork supplied by contractors before granting approval for use
- Inspection of quality and quantity of concrete materials (Cement, Fine and Coarse Aggregate, water, reinforcement) and method of mix present on site before granting approval to commence concrete works
- Enforcement of the use of PPE and compliance with safety policy on site
- Ensuring contractor’s key personnel are present on site
- Ensuring contractors deploy and utilize required construction equipment for designated works.
- Monitor day-to-day progress of rehabilitation project activities and promptly report any abnormality or risks to our Client.
- Provide weekly and milestone progress reports to Our Client.
- Assist Our Client as expert witness in dispute arising from the development or construction of the project and in bearings before various approving and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure defective works are remedied on time and high-quality workmanship is employed by contractors for all activities
- Support Our Client engineering team in verifying contractor Variation Requests (if and when required)
- Ensuring proper close-out of projects (site cleaning, payment of wages etc.) by contractors before demobilization from the site.
- Carry out other tasks assigned by Our Client when required
Qualifications
- The International consultant must be legally living in Nigeria
- Minimum of a Degree in Civil Engineering, Building Technology or Architecture.
- Registration with the Professional Regulation Bodies and/ or Member of the Professions Societies
- Minimum of 5 years experience in supervision of civil works
- Minimum of 5 years demonstrable experience in providing construction and or supervision services inNigeria.
