Project Support Officer

Location: Home-based in the UK (or other location relevant to our work – see below), with occasional in-person meetings as required**

Term: Full-time, fixed term for two years (with potential for renewal subject to funding and organisational needs)

Salary: Up to £28,000 gross per annum dependent on skills and experience (if UK-based; if based in another country, salary will be locally weighted)

Reporting to: Head of Programmes or Project Manager

Mowgli Mentoring is a specialist mentoring organisation which aims to unlock human potential to accelerate economic progress and social change. Our vision is to inspire and enable effective mentoring for entrepreneurs and leaders to better solve local and global challenges. Our work centres around building conducive mentoring environments so that mentoring is available and accessible for entrepreneurs and leaders to drive change and growth.

Since 2008, through our programmes and services, we have trained over 1,600 mentors who have mentored over 1,300 entrepreneurs and corporate leaders, including refugees, women and youth. Primarily focused on the Middle East and Africa, Mowgli Mentoring has worked with local and international governments, foundations and private sector partners like Argidius Foundation, MAVA Foundation, FCO/DFID, European Union, GIZ, Norwegian Refugee Council, UN Women, the World Bank and many more. We collaborate with other specialist organisations working to support entrepreneurship and leadership development to further enhance mentoring effectiveness and strategic outcomes. Having spent the last 13 years developing and delivering mentoring programmes for others, we are now broadening our offerings to enhance the availability and accessibility of effective mentoring services for a growing number of individuals, clients, organisations and ecosystems across existing and new markets.

About the role

You will provide key support across Mowgli Mentoring’s current programmes and our new mentoring products and services. As a member of the Programmes Team, you will work closely with Project Managers and the Head of Programmes, as well as colleagues in marketing/ communications and business development, to contribute to the development and implementation of our current and emerging work in various geographies and sectors. This is a broad and varied role, with the opportunity and expectation to get involved in supporting multiple initiatives; it requires excellent organisation, planning, administration, and communication skills – as well as an energetic, proactive and ‘can do’ approach to working collaboratively on a range of workstreams and priorities, often with competing or short deadlines. Key responsibilities

Working in close consultation with Project/Programme Managers, the Head of Programmes, others internally as well as with partners, key responsibilities of the Projects Support Officer include:

· Set up and maintain project and participant records for all stages of the project/ programme cycle

· Provide administration and support communication in relation to participant outreach, recruitment, and programme engagement, as well as assisting in ongoing stakeholder follow-up

· Support beneficiary engagement, learning and development, including scheduling programme delivery meetings, events, gatherings and learning sessions

· Provide technical and administrative assistance to the delivery of events, acting as the organiser and focal point for supporting the smooth running of online and/ or in-person activities

· Assist in the preparation of project implementation/ delivery materials, including in relation to participant learning and development for various programmes and services

· Collate, edit and finalise materials and resources, including formatting and presentation, ensuring quality and consistency in this area

  • Data collection, consolidation and presentation, tracking and reporting participants’ progress in relation to programme objectives and KPIs, ensuring compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation

· Administer project/field expenses and invoices in line with internal systems, policies and processes

· Any other reasonable task as requested by line manager or head of team, commensurate with the broad remit of this post – as a small and growing organisation, we expect the postholder to bring adaptability and flexibility to take on a range of tasks and responsibilities.

Person specification – experience, skills and attributes: (E) = essential, (D) = desirable

· Degree or comparable qualification in a relevant discipline (E)

· 3+ years of experience in project administration/ support/ coordination role(s) in a relevant sector or thematic/ programme area (E)

· Sound and proven administrative, organisational and planning skills including ability to work effectively at pace across multiple workstreams, whilst maintaining quality (E)

· Strong attention to detail and presentation, with ability to review, edit and present high quality written (and other media) materials for external audiences (E)

· Demonstrable experience of effectively supporting and/ or coordinating/ assisting across multiple parallel projects in a timely manner (E)

· Commitment to working collaboratively as well as with autonomy and initiative, including taking ownership of planning own and others’ inputs towards agreed deadlines (E)

· Ability to work flexibly and adaptably, responding to emerging priorities and organisational/ project needs (E)

· Enthusiasm for and commitment to Mowgli Mentoring’s mission and to your own self-driven personal and professional growth (E)

· Qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis skills, including experience of data synthesis and presentation (D)

· Some direct experience of mentoring or other initiative(s) which aim to develop the professional/ personal competencies of others (D)

· Knowledge of the UK’s Data Protection Act & General Data Protection Regulation and its implications for data capture and management (D)

· Fluency in English (E); additional French and/ or Arabic language skills would be a distinct advantage (D)

· Highly literate in all standard IT packages (E) and other relevant tools and technologies to facilitate online/ virtual engagement and learning (D)
