About MAG:
MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. Expressions of Interest:
Over the next year MAG (the Mines Advisory Group) expects a number of Country Director vacancies across multiple locations within our landmine clearance and weapons and ammunition management programmes. We are seeking expressions of interest in these positions from suitable candidates. For further information on how this process will work, please see the candidate information pack.
About the role:
MAG currently works in 29 countries across four continents in challenging conflict impacted communities, from emergency response to long term development contexts. Our Country Directors lead on the integration of strategy, programme management, security management, capacity building and risk management. These roles represent a great opportunity for an individual who would like to be part of MAG’s global leadership team, to help us deliver against our lifesaving mission and mandate.
About you:
As well as demonstrable skills in people, project and financial management, you will need previous experience working overseas in senior management roles and managing and leading projects and/or programmes, from project design through to contract delivery. You will have demonstrable experience of working in complex political environments that require tact, sensitivity and relationship-building skills. The successful candidate will have the experience and skills to lead a diverse team of international and national staff, as well as managing a wide variety of stakeholders. You will need to have high level planning, organisational and diplomatic skills to negotiate with various political and military stakeholders. You will also have the ability to engage with high level military contacts.
Language skills may be required depending on the location of the role.
