About us:

As a Christ centered organization, AMAZI WATER is the primary implementer of Burundian water projects, working to provide sustainable access to clean water in every community by 2028.

About the Role:

Provides principal assistance to the Human Resources Manager to develop and implement best practice HR management in employment processing, compensation, health benefit, training and development, records management, employee relations and retention. The Deputy will serve as acting in the Manager’s absence.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee employee performance reviews
  • Develop and implement HR policies throughout the organization
  • Maintain organizational charts and detailed job descriptions
  • Implement training and development plans
  • Process team, manager and senior leadership’s queries and respond in a timely and professional manner
  • Stay up-to-date and comply with changes in labour legislation
  • Address any employment relations issues, such as work complaints and harassment allegations
  • Work with HR Manager to identify and track key metrics and assist in developing timely reports on results
  • Explain human resources policies, standards, and procedures to employees to ensure compliance
  • Conduct new hire orientation and benefits orientation to build a strong foundation for new employees and increase employee engagement
  • Requirements for this position:Educational level required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, HR, or a relevant field
  • Human Resources Certification is a plus


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Hands-on experience with HR Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Excellent in French, English and Kirundi
  • Excellent understanding of Burundian Labor Law
  • Supervisory experience
