Project Background:
The USAID/Liberia Civil Society activity aims to strengthen Liberian Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to more effectively engage their constituents (citizens), contribute to decision-making processes, and oversee government actions. The purpose of this activity is to: strengthen Liberians’ ability to advocate for policy reforms, policy implementation, and service delivery through multi-stakeholder coalitions that build feedback loops among government, CSOs, and citizens.
Position Description:
The Driver/Operations Assistant will be responsible for safely transporting staff and other authorized individuals, and maintaining project vehicles in compliance with DAI policies and USAID regulations. When not transporting staff, the Driver/Operations Assistant will provide operational and administrative support to the project.
Responsibilities:
■ Provide safe transportation for project staff and other authorized individuals.
■ Securely transport project goods and documents.
■ Ensure safety of passengers in vehicles by requiring passengers to buckle seat belts and by practicing safe driving.
■ Manage general maintenance of project vehicles, including conducting daily vehicle inspections, reporting any damage or issues, and overseeing service and repairs to vehicle as necessary.
■ Ensure adequate fuel levels in project vehicles.
■ Accurately and consistently maintain the project vehicle and fuel logs in accordance with DAI policy.
■ Ensure vehicle registration and insurance certificates are present in vehicles and notify administrative team in advance of expiry; and assist with annual renewal processes.
■ Maintaining accurate records and paperwork on all vehicle-related purchases and maintenance.
■ Ensure compliance with all DAI policies and local driving laws and regulations.
■ Assist with administrative support tasks such as office filing systems; scanning and copying, event management, travel and meetings management.
■ Support with preparation of operational requisitions
■ Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Reports to: Operations Director
Minimum Qualifications:
■ At least four (4) years of relevant working experience as a driver.
■ Valid local driver’s license and excellent driving record.
■ Experience in vehicle maintenance and repair procedures is preferable.
■ Some level of Secondary School education or training in operations and vehicle management required.
■ Basic knowledge of computer and writing skills preferred.
■ English language proficiency, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
■ Previous experience with administration and operations support activities, such as filing, supplies and facilities management is a PLUS.
■ USAID or other Donor project experience preferred.
■ Additional experience may substitute for some education.
