Expert Agriculture and Nutrition Policy* At Welthungerhilfe

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Berlin, Germany. Working from home is possible at any time in coordination with the team.

As Expert Agriculture and Nutrition Policy, you will implement Welthungerhilfe’s lobbying and advocacy projects aimed at improving the quality of German development policies and programs on food and nutrition security and increasing public funding for these purposes.

Your responsibilities

  • National and international advocacy work on development finance, agriculture, food security and climate policy
  • Formulation of development policy positions in the field of agriculture and food policy and representation of these positions vis-à-vis national and international political decision-makers, the economy, civil society and the general public
  • Supporting the development policy dialogue with representatives from politics, business, science, civil society and the media
  • Conception and further development of lobby and advocacy measures, including preparation and implementation of conferences, expert discussions, etc.
  • Application and further development of monitoring tools (MEAL) including proper reporting
  • Preparation of background information and drafting of texts for correspondences, speeches and publications

Your profile

  • A university or polytechnic degree with a focus on policy and advocacy or a comparable qualification
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in policy and advocacy work at national and international level (EU, UN) in the field of development cooperation and/or humanitarian aid
  • Experience in financial management of externally funded projects
  • Expertise in at least one of the following topics: Development finance, agriculture, food security, climate policy
  • Confident and a rhetorically skilled appearance in front of representatives from politics, business, civil society, science and media on a national and international level
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent spoken and written German and English language skills
