Gender and Equity Expert

What you will do:

Strategy Development and Analysis (50% time)

  •  Coordinate with global and other pilot working groups to ensure gender and equity considerations are incorporated into all elements of the project
  •  Ensure collection and use of equity and gender-disaggregated data throughout the project
  •  Analyze policies, laws, and regulations that shape emissions and evaluate how legal instruments may shape differentiated exposure between men/boys and women/girls
  •  Update landscape analysis of key individuals and institutions representing marginalized communities, including women, and initiate outreach and engagement on the project purpose and goal
  •  Support developing equity and gender participation strategies for reaching low-income or marginalized communities, women and girls, and men and boys
  •  Support design and evaluate potential mitigation solutions to ensure gender and equity benefit s

Stakeholder Engagement and Capacity Building (30% time)

  •  Identify and build relationships with gender and equity partners
  •  Manage and support engagement and communication of CAC activities in particular related to gender and equity
  •  Coordinate gender and equity research among partners
  •  Work closely with the Nairobi Air Quality Working Group and the respective sub-committees to support the incorporation of gender and equity into their activities and plans
  •  Support the Nairobi County Community Strategist and Gender offices

Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) (20%)

  •  Help monitor and track gender indicators and monitoring evaluation
  •  Ensure the gender and equity goals of the project are met within the work plans
  •  Measure the achievement of activity targets regarding gender and equity within the scope of the CAC program and evaluate activities to achieve the targets of each activity in the following year

What you will need:

  •  Education: You have a completed Bachelor’s degree in gender studies, international development, social sciences, development studies, public policy, human rights, or other related fields or work experience equivalent
  •  Experience: You have 4+ years of full-time work experience in gender, equity and development, training, project monitoring and evaluation, development of tools/guidance documents
  •  You have demonstrated experience mainstreaming gender and equity into technical programs including conducting gender analysis
  •  You have experience with data analysis
  •  You have experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
  •  You have experience in conducting high-level desk research, and writing reports.
  •  Languages: You are proficient in spoken and written English and Kiswahili
  •  Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization.
