Grant & Compliance Officer At Light for the World


Place of Work: Vienna, Austria, or possibly another location where Light for the World operates, with some international travel required

Duration: Full-time (40hrs/week), permanent

Salary: EUR 34,000 – 37,000 annual gross salary, dependent on experience

Starting date: As soon as possible

Please note this position requires you to have a work permit for the EU (or potentially the country you will operate from, if in one of the other Light for the World locations).

Role profile:

Within the grant management and programmes administration team, you are primarily responsible for compliance and financial management of grants and contracts awarded to Light for the World from institutional donors. You are responsible for accurate financial processes of externally funded institutional grants. This includes budgeting, internal and external financial reporting and monitoring. You ensure alignment with donor regulations, and you accompany project partners and country offices during the implementation of the projects. In close collaboration with the whole grant management team, you enhance existing financial monitoring instruments.
You will work closely with colleagues located in our African offices and around the world. You will join a great team with a positive spirit.

Your role:**

· Assisting in donor reporting processes through the coordination, compiling, drafting, and editing of high-quality financial institutional donor reports.

· Communicating regularly with the Finance department and assisting in financial reporting to institutional donors by verifying their compliance with the approved budget and all contractual stipulations.

· Following and ensuring compliance with operational processes and donor rules and regulations.

· Guaranteeing Light for the World compliance with donor rules and regulations including through increasing internal understanding of donors and grant regulations.

· Assessing non-compliance risks and advising on risk mitigation.

· Ensuring quality and improvement of the programme department processes.

· Some international travel might be required.

Your profile:

· Practical experience in financial management of institutional grants is a definite advantage.

· Accurate working with financial figures. Basic knowledge of accounting procedures.

· Very good knowledge of Excel, knowledge of grant management software would be a benefit.

· Ability to administer data quality, coding and reporting, particularly with respect to compliance, and monitoring.

· Proven ability to maintain effective working relations in a multicultural environment.

· Enthusiasm to work with and improve processes and databases.

· Excellent English skills, ideally German; Other languages, e.g. French or Portuguese are an asset.

· Hands-on approach, proactive personality, strongly motivated, solution oriented, excellent organisational skills.

· Interest in development cooperation and Light for the World‘s mandate area.
