Humanitarian Support Personnel (HSP)- Programmer Coordinator At Oxfam GB

The Role

What is an HSP?

Oxfam has a large team of HSPs covering many disciplines who bring their skills and experience to Oxfam’s country teams to help them respond to conflicts and natural disasters. HSPs are based at home and would expect to spend up to six months a year in field programs (pro rata for part time posts) usually spending a minimum of three months on any one deployment. Many of our current emergency programs are in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

What will you do as a Humanitarian Support Program Coordinator?

You will be responsible for the operational management of a medium to large-scale emergency response. You will undertake a series of deployments, which may vary between several weeks and six months, for which specific terms of reference will be negotiated and agreed with relevant parties prior to deployment and/ or revised at the first stage of deployment. These deployments will often be intended to support rapidly changing emergencies and/or complex challenging operational environments in which Oxfam has had to rapidly expand its program and capacity.

What we are looking for

You have extensive experience in humanitarian interventions in crises (both conflict and natural disasters), including when security is not guaranteed. You have extensive knowledge and experience in setting up a humanitarian program during emergencies and a strong capacity for strategic planning and analysis. You also have a proven ability to negotiate. You also have a good level of French and English.
