Feed the Children Inc is hiring an International Business Development Director

Role:
Feed the Children is looking for a Business Development Director to support our rapid growth in the international development space. This position will support the international Feed the Children Offices overseas, to identify new opportunities among public, private and non-profit sources of funding. The position will:
Outcomes / Essential Functions
- Identification and Tracking of New Business Opportunities
- Lead collaboration with potential internal and external partners on identified new business opportunities to enable pursuit decisions
- Conduct research needed to inform opportunity tracking and proposal development
- Provide ongoing strategic analysis of Resonance’s Business Development efforts to inform strong decision-making and planning
- Develop and demonstrate a clear understanding of the current project portfolio, staff, and firm capabilities, and communicate to potential consultants and clients
- Design, develop, and execute capture plans for assigned opportunities and support practice area teams in developing capture plans
- Maintain and report on metrics for proposals and business development efforts
Pre-positioning
- Track grant forecasts, and using resources for advance intelligence gathering
- Identify and reach out to potential partners
- Manage pre-solicitation proposal preparations and bid planning
- Participate in pre-design meetings and drafting sections of the proposal in advance of the solicitation; coordinate and facilitate design workshops
- Support field teams to collect relevant country and technical area information that informs
External Engagement and Networking:
- Identify U.S., international, and local partners for future opportunities
- Arrange client meetings and calls with partners
- Conduct client outreach and follow up with subject matter experts for organizing meetings
- Support technical advisors to develop organizational capability statements in coordination with the communications team.
- Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as part of a team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Editing and Marketing Materials
In coordination with the Communications Team:
- Author, develop, and design project 2-Pagers and maintain project descriptions with cross function teams
- Develop capabilities statements for partners and clients.
- Assist in the development and writing of new marketing materials as needed

- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including quick researching and synthesizing unfamiliar topics
- Ability to work in a matrix management structure
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work on multiple initiatives at the same time and manage priorities
- Minimum 2 years working in international development with major donors and business development, preferably with USAID
- Two or more years of experience working on USAID proposal responses as a prime or sub-partner, including participating in capture efforts, writing relevant sections of proposals, and developing proposal budgets
- Willingness and availability to travel internationally up to 20% of the time
- Ability to travel internationally on short notice
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and at least eight (8+) years relevant experience or master’s degree and at least six (6+) years relevant experience
- 4+ years of experience in business development for USAID Experience in the full cycle of business development including pre-positioning, pipeline development, capture, and proposal management
- 2+ years of experience working on a CRM platform for Business Development needs
- Demonstrated experience in new business development with corporations, foundations, and bilateral and multilateral funders
- Experience conceptualizing, pitching, and securing corporate social responsibility and shared value partnerships
- Experience in proposal development across a range of funders and technical areas
- Experience independently driving complex initiatives and partnerships
- Extensive network of industry contacts
- Experience with federal clients and donors, preferably USAID, DOS, MCC, DFAT, and DFID
- Familiarity with private sector engagement and public private partnerships preferred
Additional Skills We Are Interested In:
- Keen interest and excitement in business development, entrepreneurial interests, willingness to learn, ambition to take on positions of increasing responsibility.
- Proficient in one or more foreign languages (Spanish, Swahili) highly preferred.
