Multimedia Event Planning Intern At Panzi Foundation

The Panzi Foundation is an non-governmental organization based in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) that provides survivors of sexual violence with access to holistic care that helps them transform from victims into survivors. We provide a wide range of services to survivors and other vulnerable members of the community across DRC. Panzi was founded by 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Dr. Denis Mukwege, an international women’s rights activist and renowned obstetrician-gynecologist specialized in the treatment of rape victims. We are immediately looking for an intern who is passionate about women’s rights and the power of art to drive change. You will play an integral role in designing and executing a number of campaigns and exhibitions in the US and Europe. This can include the curation of pieces, but also possibly the creation of pieces as well. During the current public health situation, this role will commence as a work from home position. During the current public health crisis, this role will commence as a work from home position. You must have a computer and reliable internet connection in order to be considered for the position. Ideally, we are looking for candidates based in the Washington, DC area who will be able to work with our team in-person when the public health situation improves, but remote candidates are also encouraged to apply. Some domestic travel may be required. This is a competitive position: we are looking for a motivated and ambitious person for a part-time internship for a period of 6 months.

Your tasks:

• Identify and/or curate relevant art pieces or multimedia content
• Research the specific context of sexual violence in DRC (primarily the linkages with mining)
• Manage exhibition logistics (identifying appropriate spaces, printing of materials, planning exhibit schedule, marketing these events, etc.)
• Assist in event planning tasks
• Other duties as assigned

Experience and skills:

• High degree of personal integrity
• Work experience, academic knowledge or personal interest in multimedia forms of art and advocacy
• Strong organizational skills
• Writing skills in English, French proficiency preferred
• Sincere interest in the topic of women’s rights and DRC
• Flexibility, independence, reliability and commitment to the goals of the foundation
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, iMovie, Box, Notion, Slack, or Canva are a plus
