
VPUU NPC is a Public Benefit Organisation implementing multi-sectoral integrated area based upgrading programmes of neighbourhoods in townships and informal settlements. This is done in partnership with communities, municipalities, provincial and national government.
We work in an integrated team of community participation, socio economic development, operation and maintenance, spatial planning and design, infrastructure development, and knowledge management towards sustainable urban neighbourhoods. For our team we are looking for a:
PROJECT MANAGER
Up to R 35 000.00 CTC per month depending on experience
Indefinite Contract of Employment
Job Purpose:
To oversee the planning, implementation, and tracking existing and new projects and to ensure that projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
Key Performance Areas:
- Assist with planning for projects across VPUU such as:
- Formulation of funding proposals where required
- Define the scope of the project
- Create a detailed work plan
- Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc) required
- Develop a schedule for project completion
- Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion
- Oversee, monitor, evaluate and close projects incl.:
- Manage, mentor, and evaluate project team members
- Build and maintain trust relationships with internal and external project stakeholders and be the primary contact person for the project
- Convene and facilitate regular project meetings with project stakeholders (internal and external) to support integrated planning and implementation
- Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality
- Produce accurate and timely progress reports as per funder’s requirements
- Report progress of project to Operations Manager and leadership team at agreed intervals
- Oversee Public Relations/ Marketing around project under the guidance of Marketing
- Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase
- Facilitate project reviews
- Participate in knowledge transfer and sharing of best practices and lessons learned across project teams

Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 year’s proven work experience in the field of Project Manager
- Tertiary education in project management or a related field
- Thorough understanding of project/programme management techniques and methods
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of project management software (MS Project etc.)
- Prove content experience in at least 2 of the following areas: ECD, Digitalisation, Spatial Planning, Local Economic development, Community Development.
- Effective report writing skills
- Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programmes
- Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
- Effective oral/written communication skills in at least 2 of the following languages: English, isiXhosa, Afrikaans
- Effective leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Knowledge of upgrading of low income neighbourhoods is an advantage
- Valid driver’s licence
- Valid COVID 19 vaccination certificate
